..so as I was reading my new Jane I read this quote from this Andrea...she is talking about how she wears Habitual jeans...and she begin criticizing skinny jeans, and yet she is wearing them...
So I was a tad offended..
here is my thought...even before "Skinny Jeans" became the latest trend and the "must have" many other people were wearing them.
At my school, all the punk rock girls wore them CUSTOM made...and they were great...
One memory I have:
7th grade, I was wearing some straight-legged, almost skinny, Old Navy jeans that I loved because they actually fit me....this was during the time that EVERY girl wore SUPER flared jeans. I never fell into that trend for two reasons:
1) I was too short and the jeans looked funny on me.
2) I honestly don't like flare jeans
anywho, so I wore my straight legged jeans, but always felt a bit self-conscious about having such tight jeans when all the girls had such flared jeans that they covered their whole shoe...
so one day, this girl named Griselda [she was ugly] looked at my jeans and told me, why are your jeans so tight? They are ugly, like boys' jeans"...my heart dropped...a stupid girl had successfully made me feel bad about my jeans...i spent the rest of the day self-conscious.
about two months later while in Mr. Thomas' history class, the most popular [and very pretty] girl in the school looked at me and said "Melissa I LOVE your jeans, where did you get them?"
and yes, i was wearing my tight Old Navy jeans.....I happily told her where I had gotten them and the next week she had some...and the girl who made fun of my jeans saw....
from that day on, I have worn straight-legged jeans...boot-cut....
what people do not understand is how difficult it is for a girl who is 4' 9" to find a pair of jeans, because they are not made for our body type...i have curves, so i need an older size, but I have extremely short legs, so if I wear flares, they drag on the floor...I always saw how the punk girls, [mostly because that is who I was closest to in middle school] tightened their jeans by sewing them and always wanted to ask if they could sew mine but I never did...
when the skinny jean trend came along, I was thrilled because I could go to any store and finally get a decent pair of jeans...some that would scrunch up at the bottom and not drag..they would not make me look shorter than I was...they were perfect...so i stocked up on skinny jeans...
now the skinny jean trend has been "officially booted" I suffer...not only because they will no longer be that accessible, but because now I have to deal with people tagging me wearing jeans that are 'so last season'.....and with people like Andrea Westinghouse saying her stupid remarks about skinny jeans only makes it worse...she reminds me of those ignorant people that thing the world is being governed in a good way and that life is well...
she is ignorant because she does not realize that there are people like me who are not skinny enough to fit into a size zero but are 4' 9" and have a difficult time finding jeans....
so in light of that I went to Pinkadot today tried on some Lucky brand, Joe's jeans, and some Paige jeans...omg the Paige were amazing!!!!!
..but, of course, none of them fit.........sadness
i get home and my Mavi jeans are here...they are sooo cute I LOVE them...but, of course, they do not fit me....sigh....
so I am stuck with my Levis until I find a good tailor or a design major who is willing to help me out............
anywho....so Monday I get to go to see Mickey Avalon in Santa Clara....
V and I leave at 1:30 Monday...takes her 1 hour 15 mins to get there...she was doing 90..hah
we go to Great Mall, shop [some awesome deals], Forever 21 = 1 green print dress and awesome chain necklace.. Abercrombie=awesome button-down shirt I've been dying for and was half the original price! Then was Levis! found these amazing dark wash skinny jeans that fit just right...though they have this hideous pocket and the sewing on the right leg is totally messed up, I am just amazed at how they look...very happy...
so we go to Santana Row in Santa Clara...its pretty much an nicer Old Town Pasadena but not on the level of Rodeo Drive...not as trashy as Citywalk, but has the same feel...its cute...it felt like being in Westwood and I realized how much I missed home...sigh...two more months...
we meet up with V's friend alex, went to dinner...Japanese BBQ...was surprisingly good...really good, V and I ate raw meat! went back to Alex's place where we would spend the night, and got ready for Mickey Avalon...we get there and they tell V that she could not take her camera..what to we do? we go to the parking lot and stuff the camera in between my boobs...we get there and they tell us that we have floor seats but we paid for balcony! yay! so we wait and finally Mickey starts playing...he looks exactly the same as the pics, but sound COMPLETELY different...
the sad part was that I could not see anything! darn my shortness...it was still..into the third song some idiots begin booing Mickey and he takes notice...he continues playing for three more songs but then finally leave because of the rude audience...he only played 25 mins!
uh!!!
I was soo angry...we try to go backstage and were really close but some police guys came....we give up and go back to Alex's place...when I get there, Alex's roommate Craig had put out an air mattress for me...with the most amazing sheets ever! I talked to the bff for a while and then fell asleep..woke up at 5:30am and V was already up...we left in our pjs and drove back 1hour 5mins...sweet driving from the roomie......

ahh...so i came back and slept!
I love when V and I take those naps...I got up 20 mins before my class and rushed but got there on time!
class was so interesting that day!
linguistics foo--->morphemes...
anywhoo..came back and missed dinner so waited for late night with V...yummy burger and cookies...then online for a while and knocked out...
today missed first class...I had a nightmare that some gangsters shot me and that I made out with that cutie young kid from high school...ahh...dream world...
went to second class and afterwards went downtown...got food to eat at chipotle, bought Tiff's b-day present at Pinkadot, bought myself a shirt at Gap and got some Jamba...the girl who gave me my drink seemed sooooooo familiar...then I remembered I had seen her on some of Francisco and Mauricio's facebook pics...she is so cute and seems nice....
anywhoo..that was my day...
I've been wearing Great Lash mascara and no wonder its the best...my lashes look at full and thick! I remember when I was younger I would see my big cousin Amy wear it and I was like "when I grow up I am going to wear that mascara that comes out in the pink and green bottle."
ahh...I'm grown up....make it stop!!!
