a rockstar and a latte

...a parasite, a stroke, a paper, a bibliography, a sister, a roommate, a sleepless night, a defected printer, a bad network connection, a late bus, a cold morning, a fast bike, a faster biker, a scary professor, an empty stomach, a 10 pager, a great TA, a monday morning, a 9-5 day, a headache, a grateful person.

al-hamdulilah!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

this is the song that my daddy has dedicated to us since we were little.
I never understood why until now :(

Qué va ser de ti

Hace más de un año ya
que en casa no está
tu pequeña.
Un lunes de noche la vi salir
con su impermeable amarillo,
sus cosas en un hatillo
y cantando...

use a mirror

number #117

That was my number this morning when I went to the Korean church (my polling place) to cast my ballot.

It's weird. Lately, I've felt so out of place because I really hate our selfish American ways. I've been dreaming about the day I hop on a plane and bid this country goodbye. Today, however, I have never felt prouder to be an American. It's not because Obama is black (because I strongly beg to differ) and not because Palin is a woman, because Hilary Clinton and Cynthia McKinney are too. Really, I have no idea what it is, but I suspect that it's this societal collectivism that we so rarely see.

Now, I'm not naive--I realize that once the dust settles, people will go back to their apathetic individualistic lives. I suppose that our new president will, of course, encourage it.
I mean, if we don't remain that passive audience then we might begin to become a hindrance to our government!

It's so exciting, though, that under the right circumstances (Olympics, World Cup and Election days) we are actually capable of such a thing...

I guess I wish this country the best. Both candidates have my respect (yes, I know, but the damn two-party system! reality, boo!)
Mr Barr is a douche, at least that's what I got from the Colbert Report (joke, haha). Nader is a wonderful idealist, and (sadly) just that..an ideal. The rest, I won't even bother. Maybe, that's what wrong with us, huh? We just don't bother.

All in all, I hope people voted from their hearts and not just to fit in.
As for me, I have decided to keep ALL my votes to myself.
I am a politically aware (oh so I'd like to think) torn being.
Some hate me for my choices, others love me.
At the end of the day, I did it for myself...and my country.

p.s. my post title means The President of the United States of America in Arabic.
